Safe, secure, and transparent — here’s how payments, deposits, and payouts work.

Renters pay securely through Stripe, a PCI-compliant processor.

Cards are stored securely and may be charged for deposits, deductibles, late fees, cleaning fees, or other valid charges under StompGear’s Terms.

Prices shown are before tax — sales tax is added at checkout.

Your card is only charged once the owner approves your booking.

Deposits

  • A $500 refundable deposit is held on all rentals.
  • This is a hold, not a charge, unless damage, loss, or policy violations occur.
  • The deposit is automatically released within 3–5 business days after the owner confirms the gear is returned in good condition.
  • ⚠️ Deductibles can exceed the deposit. If costs are higher, StompGear will charge the renter’s stored card for the full deductible or other valid charges under our Terms.

Payouts to Owners

Owners keep 85% of the booking (StompGear takes 15% commission).

Payouts are made via Stripe, directly to the owner’s connected bank account.

Funds are released within 3 business days after the rental ends and the owner confirms gear condition.

Payment history and upcoming payouts are visible in the owner dashboard.

Failed Payments & Disputes

  • If a payment fails, renters are prompted to update their card immediately.
  • If a renter’s card cannot be charged for deposits, deductibles, or valid fees, StompGear may pursue recovery per our Terms of Service.
  • Disputes between renters and owners should be handled through StompGear messaging first. If unresolved, StompGear will review under the Protection Plan and our Terms.
  • Chargebacks or fraud are investigated, and accounts may be suspended.

Security

  • All processing is handled by Stripe with bank-level encryption.

  • StompGear complies with Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA).

  • ⚠️ We do store payment details securely via Stripe (not directly on StompGear servers) so we can process deposits, deductibles, and valid charges.

  • We never sell or share your data
