Apparel & Personal Gear Fitting Guide

The right apparel and personal gear keeps you warm, dry, and protected outdoors. Proper fit means better performance, comfort, and safety.

Renters are fully responsible for selecting correct sizes, layering properly, and caring for equipment. Winter Apparel

Fit & Sizing

  • Jackets & pants = fit over base + mid layers.
  • Snug cuffs, sealed zippers, adjustable hoods keep out wind/snow.
  • Pants should allow movement without dragging on boots.

Layering System

  • Base Layer: Wicks sweat (synthetic/merino wool).
  • Mid Layer: Fleece or insulated jacket.
  • Outer Layer: Waterproof shell.

⚠️ Avoid cotton — it traps moisture and increases hypothermia risk.

Summer & Cycling Apparel

Fit

  • Jerseys should be close-fitting but not restrictive.
  • Shorts = snug, padded where needed.
  • Lightweight, breathable fabrics for heat.

Tips

  • Bright colours = higher visibility.
  • Cycling shorts & gloves reduce fatigue on long rides.

Gloves & Mittens

Fit

  • Gloves = snug fit, no extra space at fingertips.
  • Mittens = warmer but less dexterity.
  • Should fit under/over jacket cuffs without gaps..

Types

  • Lightweight liners → add warmth under mitts/gloves.
  • Waterproof shells → keep hands dry in snow/rain.
  • Sport-specific (ski gloves, bike gloves) = reinforced palms, padded grip

Goggles & Eyewear

Fit

  • Should seal fully around eyes, no gaps.
  • Foam should sit flat on face without pressure points
  • Straps adjust for helmets.

Lens Options

  • Clear: Night/low light.
  • Amber/Yellow: Flat light, cloudy days.
  • Dark/Tinted: Bright sun.
  • Photochromic/Polarized: Adapt to light, reduce glare.

General Outdoor Footwear

Action Cameras, Drones & Electronics

Action Cameras

  • Mounts must be attached securely to helmets, handlebars, or chest straps.
  • Never obstruct vision or movement.
  • Renters are responsible for damage or loss.

Drones (Transport Canada Rules)

  • Drones weighing 250 g to 25 kg must:
    • Be registered and marked with an identification number.
    • Be operated by a pilot with a valid Transport Canada certificate (Basic or Advanced)
    • Minimum ages: 14 (Basic) and 16 (Advanced).
  • Must fly within line of sight and below 122 m / 400 ft.
  • Restricted near airports, heliports, and populated areas.
  • Do not fly over wildfires, emergency operations, or public events.
  • Respect privacy — no recording people without consent.

Tips & Safety

  • Inspect batteries, motors, and propellers before each flight.
  • Maintain safe distances from people, wildlife, and property.
  • Follow all manufacturer maintenance and flight instructions.
